Insurance and Financial Arrangements

Insurance

We welcome and encourage frank discussion of services and fees prior to treatment. We are happy to work with you and your insurance company to help you understand your policy. We do participate with some dental policies. Please ask about your policy when calling.

Payment is expected at the time of treatment by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. We also offer interest free financing though Care Credit. Ask our office for details. Surgical fees, other than routine extractions, vary greatly. Please do not hesitate to discuss our fees, your insurance coverage, and payment arrangements with us. Our patient accounts manager can help you determine if your consultation and/or treatment is considered a dental or medical expense by submitting a treatment plan. Even if we submit a treatment plan and fee estimate to your insurance company for review, we will get an estimate of coverage but not a guarantee of payment.

The payment for the services that we render for you is your responsibility. Our office policy is to ask for a down payment based on the general information that we are able to gather regarding your insurance benefits. Each insurance policy has a usual and customary payment schedule. This means that they may consider benefit percentages based on what they allow rather than what we charge. You may have insurance coverage under two different policies: your own (primary) and your spouse’s (secondary). Most policies now have a provision called Non-Duplication (or Maintenance) of Benefits. This means that the highest plan benefit is the maximum amount that will be paid by both carriers, which is why we ask for a down payment with two insurances. Please keep in mind that other factors determine the final insurance benefit payment such as your deductible clause, co-payment provision, usual and customary fee table, annual maximum, or any combination of the above. Based on this, you may have a remaining balance on your account even after your down payment and insurance payment.

We are happy to bill your insurance for any procedures performed by us either in the office or in the hospital. If you have not received notification of payment from your insurance company within 30 days, please contact your insurance representative to check the status of your claim.
